The Dynamo Magazine
Content creation, photography, videography, journalism, marketing, graphic design,
and so much more!
Come out and learn what it takes to run a magazine! Better yet, play a significant roll in actually releasing a full magazine that features work from you and other students!
Think Rolling Stone, Spin Magazine, or Alternative Press…but 100% produced by students!
The Dynamo Magazine is a student-driven, quarterly publication with a focus on unique stories within the music industry. Dynamo Studios can offer unprecedented access to influential individuals, bands, and brands that can be directly interacted with by students in the program — From local acts all the way up to grammy winners and celebrities (we aren’t joking…Yes, we said celebrities). In addition to learning the ins and outs of creating content and running a magazine, the physical publication will serve as a portfolio for our students.
Beyond working with artists and shooting for concerts, students will also be creating content (photos and videos) for some of the biggest brands in the music industry.
If you are wanting to get up close and personal with the music industry and learn something cool along the way, then this program is for you!
Programs will be led by some of the best content creators in the industry (not just Chattanooga)! They’ve created content for some of the biggest names including, but not limited to, Ernie Ball, My Chemical Romance, LR Baggs, Blink-182, Thrice, Alternative Press, New Found Glory, Universal Music Group, MXPX, Beartooth, Switchfoot, and so many more! — It’s safe to say that you will be working with the best of the best!

When and Where:
Think of this program as a cohort of sorts. When you join the cohort, you will be joining a team that will be working on a large project that takes place over the course of several months or even a year. That being said, we’ve structured this program in such a way that participants will be able to stay involved with ever changing schedules. If you can participate for four weeks, cool. If you can participate for twelve months, even better (but certainly not expected). Ideally, participants will commit to meeting once a week for around 12 weeks (around one quarter of a calendar year). There will be a lot of opportunities beyond the classes each month. This could be interviewing a famous artist, shooting photos or videos for a concert, shooting promos for an artist, etc.
Wednesdays 5:00-7:00
Students will meet as a group once a week at our location on Cherry St. Beyond that, students will be working in small groups with Dynamo Studios instructors on various projects throughout the each month (this could take many forms because the scope of the project is quite broad).
Small Group/Team Meetups:
When students meet in their small groups, they will actually be going on assignment with an instructor. For example, they could meet at a local music venue to shoot photos or videos for a band, or meet at a coffee shop to interview a band or work on editing photos, etc.
Who Can Join and How to Get Involved:
This program will be offered FREE OF CHARGE to participants, but will be reserved for students that have completed at least 15 hours of our intro level media programming. The reason being is that this is our top tier media production program and will require students to capitalize on what they learned in our other media production programs. If you participate in this program to completion, you will walk away with the ability to warrant professional level work where you’re getting paid to create content, shoot videos, layout publications, etc. Wouldn’t you rather do that than work at a grocery store like other students?!
